Week One Term One

Welcome back after our very long holidays.  It was wonderful to see the excited faces of my new Year One class this morning.  All the children adapted really well.  It took us quite a long time to pack away all our book orders.  Luckily we had Mrs Meredith, one of our School Officers, to help us.  The children reverently participated in our prayer ritual first thing and we had two special helpers for the rain stick and the Tibetan prayer bells.  We talked a little about Australia Day and made a book about it.   I was most impressed with their quiet work and fine motor skills.  We celebrated two children's birthdays today with treats.  The children went to music and drama lessons. In the afternoon, feeling a little melted, we began a Religion DVD about being unique in the eyes of God.  When your child says they did nothing today, please do not believe them, we got right into it.  Today Darci joined our class.  She fitted right in with the others who were very welcoming.  I loved my day with your children and look forward to tomorrow.  A relief teacher will be with the children in short spurts throughout the day as I have meetings with Year 3 and Prep teachers to transition the classes. I have lots of lovely photos of our first day I can publish after you complete the permission form sent home today.

A  bright yellow note went home today, Friday.  It explains all the details for swimming lessons.  Swimming starts on Tuesday 5th February.  Children need; togs, rash shirt, caps, goggles, a towel and thongs or crocs.  They may not wear board shorts, hoop earrings or bandaids in the pool.

Please provide ear buds as soon as possible.  Your child needs these for a wide variety of digital media in our room.

If you have not filled out the blog permission form, please consider this as soon as possible.  Your child's photo will not be viewed until I have these forms back.
